I'll try to make this as short as possible! On December 5, 2007, my husband did not appear in court as scheduled and was ordered deported. He had moved and not contacted his lawyer for a year until after we married on December 10, 2007. We were not aware of this decision until we saw his lawyer who assured us he would keep my husband from being deported and had us pay him to file a new I-130. After nearly a year we received our appt. The lawyer said he was not available on that date and referred us to another lawyer. Our lawyer did not tell the lawyer he referred us to about my husband's deportation status so she was surprised when we told her (this is the day before the I-130 appt). Our lawyer called us that night and told us not to go as my husband would be arrested. Our lawyer never contacted us again or returned our calls except to send us a bill for preparing paperwork for the I-130 appt (that he told us not to go to). After consulting with 3 or 4 other lawyers, we felt it best if he returned to Yemen on his own before he was arrested and put in jail. We went to Yemen in Oct 2009 and I returned a month later without him. I want my husband home but I can barely afford a roof over my head much less a lawyer! Where do I begin? Do I just file a new I-130 and G-325A on my own and hope for the best?
