I have been working in the U.S. for four completed years now on a TN NAFTA visa. My visa was processed and issued under supervision of my Canadian immigration lawyer back in May 2005. The 2006 renewal was completed by a stateside immigration lawyer that I hired. All was smoothe. In 2008 I filed I485 work _base_d adjustment of status to permanent residency. The lawyer was payed, all docs and all legal with the full sponsoring of my employer. Completed all medical, fingerprinting, etc. and submitle of all required docs when asked by DHS.
Finally a response of a decision last Monday...Denied!
Just received the advanced details of the decision sent to my lawyer. My visa was NOT renewed by the lawyer when the I485 was submitted. I remember asking him about that but was told that all was legal because I was adjusting status and the case was pending.
Now I find out that I am here illegally! Lawyer says he needs a couple of days to decide on a course of action. Any thoughts anyone!
