I-130 questions
by Garry 7 Months, 1 Week ago
I filed an I-130, for my wife to immigrate from Scotland, received date by USCIS October 12, 2007. I received the notification of receipt (for October 12, 2007) mailed January 11, 2008. I have been trying to find the status and time _frame_ for adjudication. I received a letter from an Adjudication Officer, dated February 26, 2008, confirming this information and it said that the six month processing time relates to the received date, the processing times for spousal petitions were then for August 19, and it should be with an adjudication officer in approximately 2 months. On the USCIS website the received date was listed as October 12 for months and the processing time moved forward with each posting. Three months ago the processing times moved back to June 30 and has stayed there to date. The received date which had been listed as October 12 was also changed to January 11. I would like to know what all of this means and where the processing dates are at present and because the 6 month time would have been in April why I have heard nothing. Also, after adjudication happens, what is the approximate time _frame_ for things to be completed in London so that my wife can join me in the US? In addition, could she travel to the US for a holiday during this process? Thank you for any assistance.

David,

It has been a long time since I've heard anything from you, so I am sending a new reply to this thread.

From much time, and effort, and trying to figure things out, we figure it is best to bring my girlfriend here on a student visa. But we are... concerned about several things.

Can she help to support herself while here by working? It says, on websites, that she can work up to 20 hours a week. Can she do that to help support herself while in college?
